2011-11-12IWAS GAMES (International Wheelchair and Amputee Sport) - Sharjah, UAE
- Samkelo Radebe from Central Gauteng won gold in both the 100m (11.62s) and the 200m (23.72s) in the T45 category.
- Dyan Buis from Western Cape won gold in the 100m (11.50s), 200m (23.05s) and in the long jump (6.19m) in the T38 category.
- Juanelie Meijer from Free State won silver in the 100m (14.53s), bronze in the 200m (30.64s) and placed 4th in the long jump in the women's category.
NORTH WEST
- Sulette Damons did duty for the SA Women's Hockey Team against Germany and Holland. She will again represent SA at the 4 nations Hockey Championship in Buenos Aires in December.
- Patience Ntshingila set a new SA record in the triple jump with a leap of 13.50m on 11 November in a League meeting in Potchefstroom.
WESTERN CAPE
- Rushda Mallick won the 2011 WP league player of the year title. Her team won the Indianapolis Hoosier Invitational at the Crooked Stick Golf Club where she ended in 11th place individually.
- Achmat Hassiem has achieved qualifying times for London Paralympics in the 100m freestyle, 400m freestyle and 100m butterfly. He secured these times at the All Africa Games, Brazilian World Invitational Para-Swimming Champs and the Pan-Pacific Para Swimming Champs. He needs to achieve these qualifying times once more to ensure his place in the SA team for London. In lieu of this he will be competing at the Western Province Swimming Champs in December, SA Disabled National Champs in March 2012 as well as SA Open Swimming National Champs in April 2012.
- Dominique Dryding will be competing at the Western Province Swimming Champs to be held in Cape Town from 15-18 December 2011.
- Nicole Alexander and Natalie Abrahams will be competing in the U/19 Junior Softball World Cup in Cape Town from 7-17 December 2011.
- Mymoenah Gamiet will be competing at the schools inter provincial water polo tournament in Cape Town from 12-15 December 2011.
- Wanda Matshaya will be competing in the Gauteng Fencing Open from 3-5 December 2011.
- Janice Josephs won the 60m sprint in the Yellow Pages event in a new SA record.
We welcome the following athletes to the programme:
- Dyan Buis is a 100m, 200m and long jump athlete, living with Cerebral Palsy
- Katie Paluto is the new "kid on the block" in the Western Cape Tennis circles
- Jamie Roebeck is a young figure skater who is intent on setting the rinks alight
- Sayed Gamiet is the latest swimming sensation from the Western Cape, specialising in the 400m butterfly and 200m backstroke
- Luke Stowman is a Canoeist from Boland who participated at the Youth Olympic Games held in Singapore last year.
CENTRAL GAUTENG
- Mphumelelo Nyandeni is currently playing soccer professionally in Russia. She has been nominated for the CAF (Confederation of African Football) Women's Player of the Year Award.
- Simphiwe Sithebe attended the Netball SA senior trials and has been included in the SA squad.
NORTHERN GAUTENG
- Anna Phago lead the Tshwane University of Technology Women's Volleyball Team from the front at the Zone VI Club Championships held in Windhoek. After the 3rd game she was the leading point scorer in the tournament but unfortunately she injured her foot and could not continue. Her team ended 5th.
- Bhonguletu Ngubeni has been selected into the SA Netball SA U/19 Squad.
